Pregnant: Foreign body in a foreign country

Pregnancy itself is exciting and nerve-wracking. Every day I wake up and think 'Seriously, what the hell is going on with my body this time'? Cramps, back aches, food aversions. Imagine going through those changes after you've just moved to a developing country and you don't have your family and friends to come over and talk you through your hormonal breakdowns.

I just moved to Ecuador this year after spending 8 years of living and working in NYC. I have a lovely Ecuadorian fiance and most of the time I feel like the luckiest chica in the world. After our engagement, we got a little too excited and one missed period later - estoy embarazada!  Don't let my spanglish fool you - I cannot speak spanish. I have tried - and am still trying - but I'm a total disaster when it comes to learning languages.

This blog is meant to be my outlet for sanity while I try to navigate through this pregnancy in a foreign country with language barriers, cultural anomalies, and lots and lots of lurve from my fiance.
